The lights went down in Magnolia as the sun slowly came up. Its rays pierced the gloom, bringing warmth and promises of a new and glorious day.
In Lucy's bedroom, Natsu stared down at his sleeping princess. The sun shined on her hair to make the blonde strands gleam like purest gold. Natsu could hardly help but touch that hair, stroke it off her sleeping face, and smell the fragrance of her shampoo.
He missed this smell so much! He had been gone for far too long, off on another mission to find Igneel. Without Lucy around, missions simply were not fun anymore. He knew why she needed to stay home. She had rent to pay, food to buy, and his random searches for Igneel were never for money. They were simply his own thing, and Lucy could not afford to travel for weeks over a mere rumor.

Springing into Action
It was a feeling unlike any she'd felt before: crushing, painful, and yet she felt more and more numb by the second.
She wasn't the strongest in the guild, she knew that and had learned to accept it. Although, that didn't mean she'd stop trying. She'd grow, working and sweating on her own to keep up with her friends that defined her knowledge of power.

Prologue: Wrong Number
It was three o'clock in the morning when Natsu Dragneel's phone buzzed wildly on his bedside table. He groaned, his eyebrows pinching together in annoyance as he flopped an arm over his eyes. It was too early, too early to have someone calling him. Whoever it was would just have to wait until a decent hour if they wanted to talk to him.
The buzzing continued as his phone vibrated off of the table and clonked onto the floor with a crack, continuing to seize wildly on the carpet below. The salmon-haired boy groaned again, knowing that if he left his phone on the floor, he'd be sure to oversleep in the morning, as it doubled as his alarm clock.
He rolled over sloppily, keeping his head face-first into his pillow as he let his right arm fall off the side of the bed, patting around on the rug until he found the small device. He sighed, flipping the old phone open and holding it to his ear, without looking at the number or even opening his eyes.
He turned his he
